“Resonances” is an exchange of ideas, a dialogue between disciplines and sensibilities. Dorothée Boissier invites artists, actors, filmmakers, writers, musicians, visual artists and choreographers to bring their intuitions, gestures and languages into conversation. Together, they explore what connects design to other art forms: the relationship with space, the experience of an interior, the body, memory and emotion. Far removed from the traditional interview format, these conversations seek authenticity, nuance and freedom of expression.
In this second episode, Dorothée Boissier welcomes Jean-Romain Vesperini for a conversation about set design, what shapes an interior and the role of emotion in our perception of space. Drawing on their respective expertise, they explore how a setting can accompany movement, guide the eye or evoke a sensation. For Jean-Romain Vesperini, set design is an integral part of staging, supporting the actor in their interpretation. For Dorothée Boissier, an interior is conceived as a journey, a succession of atmospheres, moments and pauses, where every space, whether functional or contemplative, helps guide the visitor and shape their experience of a place.
