la réserve firenze

In the heart of Florence, Gilles&Boissier reimagines a 15th-century palazzo as a collection of luxury residences operated by La Réserve. Blending Florentine heritage, natural materials and carefully curated works of art, the project cultivates a refined aesthetic in which the authenticity of the past meets a contemporary vision of living.

Acquired by Gregory and Olivia Marciano, this 15th-century palazzo extends the vision developed for their private residence, Villa Sorgente, also designed by Gilles&Boissier. The project shares the same sensibility inspired by wabi-sabi, where beauty lies in the authenticity of materials, the passage of time and the simplicity of form.

The architectural intervention reveals the palazzo’s inherent nobility while remaining deeply respectful of its history. Period ceilings have been carefully restored, architectural details preserved and historic features enhanced, allowing the richness of Florentine architecture to shine through. This restrained and thoughtful approach brings the historic building into dialogue with a contemporary architectural language, without ever compromising its soul.

Local materials, from stone to cotto, establish a natural and timeless palette. The furniture draws on Florentine traditions, reinterpreted through cleaner, more contemporary lines, and is complemented by a selection of artworks and antique pieces curated by the owners and Gilles&Boissier. The result is an atmosphere that feels both museum-like and deeply lived-in, where every object seems to have found its place over time. More than an aesthetic, the palazzo embodies a personal art of living, shaped by its owners’ sensibilities and expressed within a place steeped in history.

« Notre parti pris architectural a été celui de la retenue, presque du silence. Nous avons choisi une écriture volontairement sourde, tout en apportant un maximum de lumière à ce bâtiment longtemps endormi de la Via Santo Spirito, dont le dernier étage s’ouvre sur l’Arno et sur la ville. »
