Gilles & Boissier x Pierre Frey – “The Three Sisters”
Pierre Frey opened his archive treasures to us and we imagined three characters, three sisters. ” Juliette”, “Victoire” and “Dorothée”, each associated to a fabric of her own according to her personality:
Juliette – A jacquard fabric with cashmere patterns, in wool, inspired by an Egyptian shawl. Those were brought back from Egypt by Napoleon I who offered them to Josephine. That’s all it takes to get the fashion of this pattern off the ground.
Victoire – This silk jacquard recreates a beautiful brooch lampas from the mid-18th century. Very original with its finely mottled satin background, the pattern is made of a floral garland alternating with a sown of stylized flowers.
Dorothée – This printed and then iced canvas echoes the characteristic English chintz of the early 20th century; in a bohemian spirit,
distant evocation of the Bloomsbury group.
