At the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, Gilles&Boissier’s architectural vision is clear: to anchor the hotel within its landscape and artisanal culture. Thus, the villas that welcome guests and house their sleeping quarters are arranged like riads, each with its own inner courtyard and swimming pool, sheltered by high walls to allow guests to live in harmony with dedicated spaces (dining, relaxation, work, rest). Everywhere, local craftsmanship is celebrated: on the walls, tone-on-tone tadelakt delicately “scarified” with Berber motifs, reinterpreted zelliges, straw weavings, and carved wood that bring the spaces to life.

The project encompasses the Ling Ling restaurant, the villas, the public areas, the All-Day Dining space, and above all the spa—a centerpiece entirely conceived by the studio: a sensory architecture where water flows through mirrors, brick walkways guide the gaze, mashrabiya screens filter the light, and golden-brown glass blocks create a theater of reflections. The palette, drawn from the desert—sands, earth tones, and floral whites—creates a calm and authentic luxury, in constant dialogue with nature and the craftsmanship of artisans. A multiple award winner, this space remains a benchmark: a timeless place where sensitive architecture works its magic.
